review 1: With the first book in this very delightful series, new to me author Josie Brown introduces us to four women who will do anything to ensure their children have the best possible start in life. For these ladies, that means applying to and being accepted for membership in the very exclusive Pacific Heights Moms and Tots Club. A club that is for Moms only who are married and do not work outside the home. The women are part of a group of six who made the final cut and now have to compete for one of the four open slots. What makes this story so interesting is that these women are hiding at least one secret that would disqualify them.Totlandia: The Onesies was my first book by this very talented author, but will definitely not be my last. I really enjoyed meeting Lorna, Ally... more, Jade and Jillian. Each character brings an interesting backstory and likable personality to the mix and I thoroughly enjoyed how quickly they all connected and began forming a bond. I have a feeling this club can get pretty cutthroat with backstabbing and betrayal, so strong and loyal friends are definitely needed here. The story moves at a very good pace with many laugh out loud moments. Initially, I was worried that I wouldn’t be able to keep everyone straight, but that fear quickly passed as the main characters are quickly revealed.Overall, this was a very good start to a series that promises a lot of laughter and snarky sarcasm. I feel so much anticipation about what will happen next, you’d think I had submitted an application to the club, too. I highly recommend this book and think your anticipation will be just as high as mine. Kudos to Josie Brown for a very good book and giving me several hours of reading enjoyment.
review 2: I'll be honest - this was a recommendation from Amazon, and because it was free, I decided to give it a try. I read the description and as a veteran of The Mommy Wars (not the book, the real ones :)), I wasn't sure it would be for me. I will now happily admit that my instincts were wrong! I loved this book from start to finish, read it in a day, and have already purchased book 2 and book 3 because I can't wait to see what happens! It was funny, charming, and REAL. I could identify with some aspects of each mom (yes, even Bettina) - and I loved that. Whether we admit it or not, moms (and dads) are competitive and we will sometimes do whatever it takes to give our kids the best in life. We feel guilty over things out of our control, we gloat a little inside when our kid does something better or sooner than another kid, and we want others to think our kids are as amazing and brilliant as we do. This could have taken place with any kind of parents' group, it could be my son's PTA (although thank God the membership requirements aren't as stringent or I'd never have made it to the front door!). It's not about the setting as much as it is about completely understanding why these characters have the feelings they do, whether it's leaking breast milk just as you walk into a meeting, agonizing over what to take for a snack to a soccer game (and it had better be organic!), or realizing that there are some things that are devastatingly out of your control and may redefine your role as a mom. Josie Brown has captured those feelings and moments so well, with honesty and humor, and I look forward to reading the next installments. less

This was cute but I wish it was a full-length novel rather than being chopped up into a serial.

An easy read, which is what I was looking for, but the ending felt incredibly rushed.
