review 1: This book was really suspenseful and kept me guessing until the end - was the afghan girl who wanted her brother's body going to end up being a dutiful sister or a suicide bomber? The story begins from her point of view and then goes through the point of view of the people inside the US military camp, before and after the girl shows up. Got a little confused on some of the transitions and thought the captain was a bit heavy handed but still and excellent read.
review 2: The Watch by Joydeep Roy-Bhattacharya is a very fascinating book to say the least.I found it very interesting and during some points of the story there were almost war like mysteries. For example, when they were under fire from a surprise ambush a sand storm deceased their sights. During this ... moretime there were endless possibilities that could have happened next and the suspense and action is part o the reason I wanted to read this book. I would recommend this book to somebody who loves war stories and not for somebody that gets grossed out easily because there are some gruesome descriptions in this novel. One of the main cons I found was that the story may move very slow when they are not put in combat situation because the soldiers don't talk about anything too important. I also felt that the beginning and end of the story drag on and may seem a little bit more boring, but the beginning is very important because it sets up the mentality and understanding of the rest of the book. The soldiers also are mostly bored and the entire environment just drives them insane. Overall, this book was very fascinating and i enjoyed reading it. less
