review 1: Kaden is having a hard time in New York City, He was abused badly at one point and it has left him emotionally and physically scarred. The temporary employment agency where he works has a job for him for the summer on a Montana steer ranch as a cook. He takes the job, and flies to Montana. He meets the owner of the ranch, Logan, a stunningly beautiful cowboy. Initially, Logan seems to be somewhat distant from Kaden, although there is a protective streak running through him. (Logan protects Kaden from Franklin, the only "bad-guy" on the ranch. So, it is obvious that this character will appear at some point again in the book after he is initially fired.). Logan thought he was straight as an arrow, but he is clearly bisexual and has the hots for Kaden. Everything goes along (... morewith a sprinkling of angst here and there), and then there is a really bad thunderstorm one night and Kaden is petrified. Logan hears him screaming in fear and goes to hold him in his arms to soothe his fear. When the thunderstorm finally ends, the two men continue to hold each other and finally kiss, and that starts the beginning of their relationship. Blah, blah, blah, angst, angst, angst, I love you, I love you, and then we have a couple. All of a sudden, Franklin reappears at the ranch. Didn't he disappear at page 30 of the book? "Oh no! What are we to do?," I asked facetiously. But, we know that insta-love will conquer all, right? There is a proposed "tug-at-the-heart" encounter with a young cancer patient when Kaden is recovering from his injury, but it is blatant filler for this story. I was a little annoyed at this useless attempt to sway the reader's emotions. Overall, this is a predictable and sweet little story. Not a lot of stuff to wonder about in this insta-love fantasy. Three stars.
review 2: Don't get this book. There are far better m/m romance stories. This one is so bad, so unoriginal, and so predictable. The main character Kaden has emotional breakdown after another. By the first fifty pages, he's had at least two very public panic attack episodes that leave him sobbing and crying. He can't seem to have a single lustful thought about his straight employer, Logan, without getting melodramatic. Kaden is set up to be so emotionally fragile that you really don't believe the sudden turnaround he has. The dialog is so sappy you'll get cavities just from reading it. I don't know women who talk like that let alone men especially straight men like Logan who haven't had any experiences with men. Don't bother wasting a credit on this unless you're really into very angsty m/m stories with poor character development and dialog that comes straight out of a daytime soap opera. less
