Scott. As with other serial-type romances, the action moved a little more quickly, so the relationship between Kara and Simon just took right off. As well, Simon's dark past is not explained in this book, so the reasons for the way that he deals with Ka... morera, and all women, is still unclear. I am guessing that all of this is explained in later books. This being said, I actually really liked Simon, and would love to know what he's hiding, what has shaped him and scarred him. Kara fell just a little flat for me, mostly because I wish that she had been more fleshed out as a main character.I would like to read the other books in the series so that I can get a real feel for Simon and Kara, more of who they are and what makes them tick, because I think that it would add dimension to their story. For now, I give this book 3.5 stars, and recommend it as a promising start to an intriguing story.
review 2: I read this as a box set for the first 4 books on this series. If you are in the mood for some hot, steamy romance then J.S. Scott is your author. These books are fairly quick reads but they certainly pack a punch.Kara is struggling to get by, she is working her way through finishing her nursing degree and has been sick. When she almost passes out on her way home from work, Simon is there to come to her rescue.Simon has been secretly infatuated with Kara for a while now, she works part time for his mother's restaurant, and he has been watching out for her from afar... This series takes you through their first encounter and into their relationship... It has sweet moments and some very fun times, hot steamy love scenes and some great characters that you will get to know. less
