review 1: I probably would have liked this book a couple of years ago when I started reading m/m genre, but today I found it mostly frustrating. It started off promising, but went downhill towards the end. Here are a couple of things that bugged me:* I've got nothing against endearments, but Spencer needed to stop calling Brock "sexy" all the time. In the beginning it was sweet, but then it began to grate on my nerves.* The story is told from the POV of both main characters, and I found it strange when the author wrote one scene from Jason's and one from Denise's. In my opinion, it was unnecessary and could have been easily avoided.* I didn't feel any emotional connection to the characters. Spencer was a good guy, but I was frustrated with him for wanting to keep secret the real rea... moreson behind his trips to Texas, but I guess it was needed to move the story forward. As for Brock, his insecurities, fears and lack of trust created a lot of tension and unnecessary drama.Bottom line, it was an easy, but overall disappointing.
review 2: Super sweet sports story which for once doesn't deal with a closeted athlete. Spencer is a AAA minor league player who is out and comfortable with who he is. Brock is the geek CPA who is swept off his feet. This one's a bit angsty and not short on drama, but good fun. It was a great read for a lazy Saturday. One minor criticism, .875 batting average?? That's about double what it should be realistically. And for a pitcher...no. less
