review 1: I have so many issues with this book. *sigh* Lovely concept, but I hated the execution. I'm trying to keep it in perspective because I know when it was published, the landscape of romance writing was completely different. BUT COME ON. The female lead was too perfect, too one-dimensional. And the only dimension to the hero was his pain and angst. And I love angst! I eat it for breakfast, sprinkling the tears of the broken-hearted souls over my Wheaties every morning. That being said, I thought the first balcony scene under the stars was incredibly well-done and poignant.
review 2: Broken Wing... much loved and recommended historical about Gabriel abandoned as a boy to a life in a brothel and his soulmate Sarah an unusual aristocratic woman of her time that doesn'
... moret quite fit in. Their journey to each other is fraught with misunderstandings, emotional baggage and a shipwreck at a most inopportune time. Thank goodness there is finally a HEA. This is one of the most angsty historicals I've read and although I liked it, can't say I absolutely loved it.3.5 stars. less

This held my interest but I didn't feel a strong connection to the characters.
