review 1: I really wanted to enjoy this book, but I just couldn't get on with the Authors style of writing. Not meaning to be rude or condescending, but it felt I was reading a novel written by a teenager. It was very cheesy in places and the ending (not wanting to give anything away) was too perfect. The premise of the story was good, and the descriptions of Cornwall, a place I love were well articulated. However, I couldn't warm to any of the characters, and midway through I nearly gave up, but I persevered, but I'm a bit non plussed that I did. Very disappointing.
review 2: This was not so great. I feel badly writing that it was awful when the author is new. However, this was choppy sentences, redundancy (much like Higgins Clark in her old age--keeping it too simpl
... moree for her 'readers' and repeating themes and comments, such as 'my mind is so fragile and I know he thinks I am mad', which are probably more for the author than the reader). I couldn't stand the weak, sniffling main character, Cathy, and the back/forth between her a**hole husband who was supportive one minute and then a complete tw*t the next (I'm thinking the latter was really what he was like; slightly misogynistic). The hoopla ads about this being chilling are ridiculous. This was not even the slightest. The characters all waivered between one belief and the next (e.g., Julianna loving Cathy, then hating her, loving Ted, then hating him, etc.) I just didn't buy much of it. I skimmed the entire second half. In fact, about 1/4 of the way through I was going to put it down but kept telling myself that perhaps it was slow to start. Wish I'd never wasted the money on this. less

Defiantly and page tuner towards the end. So many things going on but overall a good book
