review 1: I'd like to say that this book was better than the first two, and in some ways, it was. Nevertheless, the ending just didn't feel finished. Lydia, Mike, and Jeremy become a threesome against traditional norms, and the reader is just left hanging as to how they intend to pull it off.If Lydia weren't somewhat traditional and come from a large, meddling family, the ending would have worked. Madge was the only one who was truly outrageous while the others seemed to value hearth and home. I'm not sure the quite nontraditional relationship the three were entering would ever be looked at in a positive light by any of the family let alone work for eternity. The other part of the book that was unfinished was the relationship between Krysta and Caleb. Would they, should they, did the... morey ever get together? Unless there's another book, which I probably wouldn't buy, I'll never know.
review 2: I didn't like this one quite as much as the first two, possibly because it had been so long since I'd read the first two. It might have been because the book was 3/4 done before any of the three lovers actually talked to each other about becoming involved together, even though both the guys had thought about it in earlier books and the female character thought about it all throughout this one. It was obviously inevitable, but there was very little space given to them actually figuring out how to be a 3 person partnership, just a lot of build-up and hand-wringing.But I still enjoyed the characters and the supporting characters. The writing style was good. My frustration was the characters not talking to each other and over-analyzing everything, not with the writing or plotline. less
