review 1: The PremiseThe second entry in the Obedient series, Lydia Charles and and Matt Jones, aka Michael Bournham (CEO of Bournham Industries) have been caught having sex in the office and their sex tape is about to go viral. Michael tries to protect Lydia by shipping her off to Iceland in a hastily made up position as Director of Communications, and sends his best friend, Jeremy to follow her and protect her, and let’s face it, hook up with her, since they’re into that. The GoodI think I like the individual characters more than the whole storyline, and I definitely liked Lydia’s family for the most part more than her. The BadMy main problem with this series continues to be that there wasn’t a strong enough reason for this to be divided into multiple books. I think it w... moreould have been much better to have created one really good book instead of dragging it out over three smaller books. If I put aside my annoyance at it being three books, then I have to review each one on its own merits. This entry in particular was weak because there was no resolution at all to anything - it had no real beginning or ending. Lydia and Mike spend the majority of it bemoaning what happened in the first book and Lydia finds herself intensely attracted to Jeremy in the space of a couple of days, even knowing that he’s Mike’s best friend, and possibly involved in the deception. The trip to Iceland is random and weird, and serves no purpose other than to set up Jeremy and Lydia for sex away from Mike. Also, for a series that seems designed to end in a triad relationship, I believe in the romance between Mike and Lydia way more than Lydia and Jeremy. The Bottom LineYeah, I don’t know why I’m going on with this series but out of all of them, this is the weakest book.
review 2: Love this story...didn't care for her being sent away which was really of no use to the story except that she had more of a relationship with Jeremy. And what to think of that now? Does she stay with him or go back to Mike in book 3? Makes you wonder?? I wish Mike would have fought for her a bit more before sending her away or at least explaining why she got the promotion instead of hearing it from Jeremy. Looking forward to book 3 for sure!!! less
