review 1: Only book I have ever read that captures the internal experience of a high-functioning person with Bipolar. If you want to have some chance at understanding what mania is really like then the best thing you could do is read this novel. I did not previously think that the experience could be described with words. I love this book so much it's hard to describe. Parts are very painful. It does not sugar-coat the disease as most media portrayals do.
review 2: This was an amazing novel. Garey gives Greyson Todd (which sounds like someone combined a few Robins) a wonderful voice, you can almost hear Robert Downey Jr in Kiss Kiss Bang Bang reading the novel to you. That's sort of an apt comparison, because this book is about what I can only assume from personal expe... morerience is the bipolar tendency to be obsessed with feeling, to always be chasing a kind of happiness that might not exist. I loved this. less
