review 1: In Julie Buxbaum's Acknowledgments at the end of this book,she mentions that After You is in some ways a love letter to The Secret Garden and she is right. The author's love for this timeless classic shines through so many times and left me wanting to reread Burnett's book(which I haven't read for many years). At the start of the story, Ellie Lerner's best friend Lucy has been randomly shot and killed in front of her own 8 year old daughter. Sophie is distraught by what she's witnessed and Lucy's husband, Greg, is falling apart and in no condition to take care of Sophie. Ellie decides to temporarily move in with Greg and Sophie in their London home. Ellie also uses she and Sophie's shared love of reading to aid both of them in healing. This was a beautiful story, full of t... moreender moments and realistic reactions in a tragic situation!
review 2: A woman is obsessed with staying in England and helping out with her Goddaughter after the mother is mugged over a ring and dies. She completely ignores her husband back in Boston. He eventually files for divorce and she sees the light. After she becomes pregnant with (goodbye sex) her husbands child and comes to term with a previous still birth she is attempting to reunite with husband. Really I would give it 3 /12. less
