review 1: I really liked this book and all the characters in it. A great insight into how hard it can be for couples who really want children but who cannot have them and the fallout from IVF. It particularly highlighted for me how hard it is to be in world full of children and parents when you desperately want a child. It is a bit of a rollercoster ride this book but you really end up routing for all the people in it! Great insight into how hard it is to give up a child for people you love.
review 2: What a lovely well thought out book this is. I actually ‘won’ a signed copy of this book in a Goodreads giveaway but it was on my ‘To Read’ shelf before I entered so was thrilled to win. I love ‘what would you do?’ books and this is one of those books it revol
... moreves mainly around 2 families 1 childless but very much wanting a baby and the other a single parent who ‘fell’ into parenthood due to one accident both feel inadequate in their current lives. Surregacy is a bit of a taboo in the real world and so I was interested to find out how Julie would approach it. I was pleasantly surprised at the considerate way she gave all sides to the story and still managed to keep the reader in suspense. I read this book in one weekend (all 400 pages) I couldn’t put it down and every time I thought I had worked out what was going to happen other events changed my mind about the outcome. Suffice to say the ending was an unexpected one. The whole book was obviously very well researched and thought out even to the cover picture of the childs embroidered shoes. A lovely book with absolutely no sex whatsoever but still with love thrown in here and their. I will treasure this book always and will definitely be adding Julie Cohen to my favourite authors list. less
