review 1: Return to Pearl Island is by Julie Ortolon. This is a very short book of three chapters which take the reader of the Pearl Island series forward seven years and tells what each couple is doing now. It is great fun reading this little book as it reacquaints the reader with the characters in the previous three books. Book I is about Rory and Chance. Aurora (Rory) was the little sister who had a dream of living in their ancestor’s house together. It didn’t quite work out as she wanted. Adrian and Allison got married and moved on leaving Rory to live in the house with her family. They had turned the awesome old house into a Bed and Breakfast complete with ghosts. The ghosts of Marguerite and Captain Jack still haunt the house but only appear when someone needs th... moreem. Rory is having an attack of nerves. She has agreed, why she still asks herself, to do a live interview for Good Day, USA to tell about the website she designed and the other things she did to bring tourists back to Pearl Island. The ghost of Marguerite gives her the final shot of courage she needs to do the interview. Book II is about Scott and Allison. Scott is a major writer and has been writing from the new office that was provided for him to get away from the chaos of twin boys. He is supposed to leave for New Orleans and a book signing which was part of the fundraiser for new libraries to replace those destroyed by Hurricane Katrine. Scott realizes he hasn’t had enough of Nicole nor of his sons. He wants to step back from writing, move his due date back, and move back into the chaos of the kitchen. The new office is above the garage and is too quiet and isolated for him. He needs the chaos of the kids. He intends for the new office to be for Allison’s online gift shop. Marguerite and Allison give their permission. Book III is about Jackie and Adrian. They live on Jackie’s boat traveling the Caribbean while Adrian’s cooking show is televised from wherever they are. It has worked well for ten years but now Taylor, their son, is ready to enter High School. However, Uncle Carl who with his wife has moved to St.Thomas, has found an interesting Spanish wreck and he wants Jackie to be part of the recovery team. It will take about three years. However, there is his show which has been moved to stateside, and Taylor is slated to start school. Can they fix these problems? Can they get the approval of Marguerite and Captain Jack too? What about Allison’s family? I could have read on and on about this series. It is simply fun to read. I have read Chloe’s story and now await her life seven years later. I love Julie’s books.
review 2: 2.5 stars. This book was a cute revisit to Pearl Island, but kind of unnecessary in my opinion. I really liked revisiting Rory and Chance. Their story was the most interesting and enjoyable. I gave them a 4. For Allison and Scott I felt the story was enjoyable but unimportant. Kind of boring honestly. I gave that one a 3 though. For Jackie and Adrian's part of the book, I was very disappointed. All the facts were skewed (son was 5 at the top of the stairs, then 6 at the bottom… Rory was a redhead then a blond in about the same amount of time, year's between the main stories and the bonus chapters were inaccurate, etc.) I really disliked the final installment in this book, so I gave it a 1.So, like I said in the beginning, this book is rather unnecessary. Maybe had I liked the series better as a whole, I may have enjoyed these bonus chapters more, but I just found them to be a waste of time. I don't recommend them, even if you've read the other books in the series. less

I really wanted more of an update on the trilogy. Good but could have been better.

a bit *meh* to be honest, sweet enough additional stories but not really required.
