review 1: This book starts out with a young boy and girl (Bobby and June) playing outside together. They have been best friends forever. They both finally start to realize that they want to be more than friends. When they finally get the courage to explore this new relationship, his mother comes storming out the house and pulls him away and says that he and his mother are leaving town and are never coming back. Now years later, June is still in the same town, in an unhappy marriage, and is a waitress at the local diner. Bobby comes home from Vegas, because he finally learns that his father has a life-threatening illness. And he returns home to make up for lost time.
review 2: I really enjoyed this book! This was the first book by K. Webster I've read but it definitely... more won't be the last. I felt an immediate connection with the characters and you could feel their love for each other coming off the pages. There was a lot of back and forth with Bobby trying to fight off his demons but what I liked about it was that you never doubted their love for each other even when things were tough. To me, this is a true love story of two people who are clearly meant to be together finding their way to each other. I liked getting a glimpse of the other band members in the Vegas Aces and can't wait for their stories! Like one other person said - my ONLY complaint is that it ended at about 75% and I wasn't expecting it to end that quickly and I was a bit disappointed only because I didn't want their story to end. less
