review 1: When I found the first book in this series free on amazon I read the blurb and downloaded it. I am on a bit of a fantasy kick at the moment and it sounded right up my alley. The series is a YA/NA urban fantasy. The books are full of so much emotion, I cried more than once over the course of them. It is easy to get swept away with the friendships, family that is built and with the love between the main characters. The characters are a group of mages with some really interesting powers. Ryanne's powers develop & evolve over throughout the books, she gets more kickass as it goes on. Ryanne feels like such a real person when you read about her, her emotions & reactions are so easy to relate to - she is easy to fall in love with. I really loved all the good & bad surprises that... more popped up, it was not easy to predict the outcome & i loved that. There is action & excitement in every book and parts of it had me on the edge of my seat. I would recommend the series (it took me less than 24 to read the four books & yes i did sleep at one point!). I will also read more by this author as I really liked her style of writing.
review 2: Perhaps I'm being too critical, but this book was awful in more ways than one. I'll try to explain why.Firstly, Ryanne was unconscious for half of the book. She fainted at almost every page because of her powers. That got really annoying after the 20th time... Secondly, Natasha A.K.A. Colton's crazy ex girlfriend admits why she hates and wants to kill Ryanne. Because she stole Colton from her. Not only is that predictable but the way she said all of the reasons just wasn't believable. Just no. You'll have to read it to understand why I can't explain the ridiculousness of it.The bad guys were far too underdeveloped. Adam was a rapist which is far worse than the main evil character Dravin, whose only objective was to beat Ryanne and get her to tell him how much power she had to extract it. She had to articulate it for him to get it.There was so much wrong with this book that I don't know why I finished it. David was the best character as he was funny. Everyone else just got on my nerves.. less
