review 1: An Idiot Abroad: The Travel Diaries of Karl Pilkington follows a miserable man named Karl Pilkington. Karl Pilkington is a very lazy person who doesn't like to go out of his comfort zone. So, his friends Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant plan to send him to the 7 Wonders of the World in order to try to change his outlook on life. All the while, Ricky Gervais tries to get a laugh by torturing Karl's comfort zone. I really enjoyed this book. It's a great look at a very miserable and self conscience man. Sometimes, however, his attitude towards people and the amount miserable things he said made me not enjoy this book at certain points. For these reasons, I give this book a 4/5 stars.
review 2: Once again, go Karl! For some strange reason I read the second book (
... moreThe Further Adventures of An Idiot Abroad first, and I absolutely loved it! So of course I had to read this one and I wasn't disappointed. It was hilarious. I love Karl Pilkinton's way of thinking and how he mannages to speak his mind (a very funny mind) while somehow still not being offensive. A really easy light hearted read. I had to ration myself as to not finish this book too soon as I didn't want to reach the end! The Moaning of Life will definitely be on my Christmas list this year. less

Anything but an idiot. A funny, but honest take on travel and all the garbage that goes with it.
