review 1: If I ignore the inaccuracies and obvious lack of research on the author's part, I liked the story a lot. The story had a nice pace - nothing was agonizingly slow or mind-blowing fast. All the characters, though flawed, were enjoyable and they all grew on me. So much that I felt Lydia pain when Tanner delivered *that* news. To be honest, I might've liked the secondary romance more than that of the hero and heroine. Probably because the H/h romance felt too... "nice"... Two childhood friends reunited after years apart and hero saw heroine on a different light - a more feminine light - but she had demons and he had to take it slow in showing his love, meanwhile heroine had been in love with hero since their childhood days. Oh yeah let's not forget about the death threats beca... moreuse we need an actual conflict than cliché emotions related issues. All in all, I'd say the story is a good read.
review 2: I'm pretty sure that if you shook a copy of Michael's How to Tempt a Duke hard enough, a romance novel cliché would fall out on your lap. Unlikely succession to a dukedom? Got it. Recurring battlefield fever? Yup. Let's get you out of those wet clothes? Yeah, that's there, too. All the notes are there, and Michaels plays them well enough...but you're not likely to remember the tune after it's over. less

A good airplane or beach read especially if you enjoy an occasional regency romance.

I like these period pieces. This one also kept the historical accuracy correct.
