review 1: This book is an inspiring read. It contains solid friendships, love, injustice and bullying. Alice, the main character, is fiercely loyal and hates injustice - especially when it happens because someone thinks their way is the only way. Her relationship with the antagonists son, Samuel, suffers when he doesn't have the guts to stand up to his overbearing father. Alice has what they used to call "gumption" and I couldn't help routing for her. Read this. You will love it!
