review 1: First I want to express that this is one of the most sarcastic/witty books I've ever read. The plot line is very interesting. At first I thought it was going to be this teen filled adventure, but when the story progresses, I was in amazement. The topics they touched upon, such as love life and finding out who you are really spoke to me. I thought it was beautiful. So many relatable actions happen in this book and we can all learn from them. Great book, well done Kate. Well done.
review 2: Better review later: this book is so close to five star. The writing is superb and very funny. This will appeal to kids who like John Green, realistic, but amped up, so that the repartee is recognizable, but just a little better that reality. Diversity represented, there is a
... morestrong African Canadian main character. Great language and vocabulary and strong sidelight on poetry. My big quibble is that I felt the ending had a contrived element that I just couldn't buy-even though it had been thoroughly foreshadowed, and that made the whole book, which had been reading at 8th grade-high school level, suddenly drop to 6th grade. Big problem is I really believe the writing and vocabulary is too sophisticated for 6th grade. I still will heavily recommend and look forward to kid feedback. less
