review 1: I am a great fan of stories with elemental abilities. I picked this book, number 2 in the series, hoping to learn more about these abilities and get a little more of the world building that I missed in the first book. I was a little dissapointed that this book didn´t really focus on the ability. It somehow felt like Brady and his family would have been the same even without their abilities. The story seemed very promising and I liked how vulnerable Brady was. I enjoyed this book, but I feel like it could have been even better if it just delved a little deeper, both regarding abilities and the guys way of thinking and feelings.
review 2: 3.5 stars. Although I thought this was a fun and interesting book, I think I am going against the grain when I say I didn't e
... morenjoy it quite as much as the first book. I think the main reason is that Etienne just seems so accepting and trusting of a mysterious man that he just met who incidentally stole his credit card, doesn't have a phone, doesn't have a history, and may not even have told him his real name. I think I was with Etienne's sister, Susanne, when I felt Etienne was just being spectacularly naive. Of course, it worked out for him in the end, but I would think, especially after his nightmare ex-boyfriend, Paul, he would have learned to be a bit more cautious. I think that was why I couldn't completely sink into the relationship between the two men the way I wanted to, because I didn't trust Brady. I'm not saying Etienne should have been all crazy and suspicious, but he never asked Brady any questions for fear Brady was going to run away.In the first book, I really felt the friendship between the two characters and the real love. With this book, it just seemed more of a lust-induced fog.But I still enjoyed this book as part of the series and will likely continue to read more books as they are released. I hope Malbec gets his own book. less
