review 1: So, this wants to be a heart-warming, tear-jerking story. I know it will be for some, but not for me. I might have to embark on a study of literature and other art forms to discover what exactly it is that allows the medium to touch me, if it is even possible to make such a discovery. All I know is, this did not. It is a little more on the sentimental side, a little sappy, trying a little too hard for the emotional connection. Mercifully, it is very short at 99 pages.
review 2: This is a great Chrsitmas story. I gradually came to identify with the central character Micah Connors. About halfway through the book I was feeling frustrated with him. Why was he being so stubborn and making so many wrong choices when his musings made it clear that he really wanted ... moreto do what was right? It reminded me of myself. I can also be stubborn. I'm interested in trying another book by this author. less
