review 1: Another freebie I got from Amazon which is not bad. I see the low ratings given by other readers and I find it difficult not to ask why. True, this book is far from being perfect and yes, some dialogues and lines sound bland and unappealing but that's not just what makes a book great, right? I recognize the author's talent as well as the good story. The characters have lived up to the southern setting (kind, close, nosy, simple). The plot is good, the antagonists are also good. Chad is a great villain but I have to admit the character of Will is a little weak and soft for a lead character. I'm giving this a 3.5.
review 2: The general plot of this book could have been promising and successful. However, there should have been much more editing involved to make t... morehis book better. I found many grammatical errors that could have been easily fixed if the time had been spent in carefully reviewing and editing this book. McKenna's character, while in a general sense had the potential to be a well-developed character, fell short many times. She was shallow in many places where the situation called for her to act differently. The writer had a wonderful opportunity to create a strong character within this story, but that was pushed aside in exchange for a quickly thrown together personality.I found Will to be the same. He had deep situations surrounding him. Troubles from his past and ones that warred with him in the present often propelled the story forward. However, Will himself did not appear any more developed as a result of these situations. I wish the case to be different, but it is not. The glaring problem of the lack of depth in the characters made me give this book 2 out of 5 stars. less
