review 1: Sarah has the job of distracting Cord while her brother and father steal from his family as revenge against along time feud between the family. Sarah only does along as she is desperate to pay her younger brother medical bills and to put food on the table. Her and her family get away with the money. Later Cord recognises her in town in disguise and arrest her to discover who stole from him as she was the only one who he can identify. As the sheriff is out of town he takes her to his house under arrest until the sheriff returns. The main theme in this book is forgiveness and telling go of vengance. Great story.
review 2: I kept hoping this book would get better as the story progressed--it had the potential to do so--but it never did. What was with all the 1970'
... mores-style psychobabble in the 1870's? Cowboys worried about working through their self-esteem and avoidance issues, weird, just weird. What was with all the molly-coddling of criminals--this is the old West, for crying out loud! Four years in jail considered a harsh sentence for someone who shot and paralyzed a little kid! Come, come, criminal-loving moonbat liberal judges hadn't been invented yet. Then everybody took the robbery and near-killing of Cole so lightly--like nobody cared about a major crime, just that Cole should have treated the female criminal with better manners, huh? No wonder scumbuckets thought they could continue to steal and, ultimately, murder with impunity in this district, since there were no consequences for grand larceny, aggravated assault, and attempted murder, so why not go all the way for cattle-rustling and actual murder? That Sheriff is seriously not earning his salary! Then there was the talk about maybe the cattle-rustling and subsequent murder (oops, accident--because killers could never even guess that purposely stampeding 50 head of cattle over somebody would kill him) just might wake up the bad guys to change their ways. Huh? There was even talk of the fear that cattle-rustling murderers might end up behind bars--bars my foot, those were hanging offenses. Absolutely ridiculous! I think I need to go rent a Randolph Scott movie to try to neutralize some of the insanity that this crap inflicted on my poor brain. less

A great tale of families torn and the children trying to end the feud.
