review 1: I've read quite a few crime novels and "A Deadly Blessing" is one of the best. I'd never heard of Ms Bennett, but after reading this book, I place her name on the list of my favorite crime novelists. As any top author should, she's created a story that is fast paced, exciting, and realistic. She seamlessly blends the crimes with political intrigue and a look at the inner turmoils of her main character, Maddie Divine. The book is written in what I feel is a very unique way in that Ms Bennett tells the story through the eyes of the characters involved in each "scene". This gives the reader a better look at the motivations behind the actions as well as allowing the reader to form a bond with the people in the story. I wish there was a higher rating. This is definitely a must ... moreread book.
review 2: Story about the kidnapping of the daughter of the Governor of California who is dating the Mayor of Los Angeles. The daughter, who needs a bone marrow transplant, gets away from her security guards and goes to a party with 3 of her friends and is kidnapped. The story is told by the governor, his daughter, the mayor, the main police officer and her husand (who is also a policeman). This was a quick read-each chapter is just several pages so it goes fast. The cops are also looking for the woman who is a match for the bone marrow transplant the governor's daughter needs. It sounds convoluted but it was a pretty good story. less
