review 1: I loved this book. Glenn Gould is always an interesting and eccentric person to read about, but this book looks at him through a different lens -- his pianos -- and the result is fascinating. And who knew there were so many interesting things to learn about pianos? My 12-year-old son also picked up this book and loved it (and he doesn't play the piano and I don't think he'd ever heard of Glenn Gould).
review 2: A quick read, and surprisingly gripping for a book about a piano. Three main characters: a piano (Steinway "CD 318"), Glenn Gould, and Verne Edquist, a piano tuner that grew up in Saskatchewan. Since Glenn Gould was based in Toronto, there are lots of interesting Canadian/Torontonian tidbits: mention of ordering a coffee "double double" style, talk about... more different neighbourhoods, the Eaton's store (which used to have a concert hall on the 7th floor!), Fran's diner, and many other things... less
