review 1: Imagine starting a life as a human, then becoming a Vampire for ten years, surviving the misfortune of being bit by a Werewolf, only to become human again. However, your second chance at mortality is gifted with the traits of both species - minus the whole blood lust. Then you meet someone who may be your life long partner. Only to discover that they come from a long line of Hunters and has the ability to suck the soul out of you!Sounds interesting, right? Hell, it had me sold. But several chapters in I thought, what the hell have I gotten myself into??But I'm stubborn. Have been from the day I was born. So, I read the ebook. Parts of it I popped up like a meerkat, with those huge doe-like eyes and twitching whiskers. In others I moved like a sloth caught in the middle of ... morea tropical heat wave. Many times I had fallen asleep reading this on my Kindle device pressed into my nose - not as comfortable as a book, just saying! Would I recommend? Probably not to my close friends. I know what I like, and though this had shiny moments, it wasn't enough to keep my attention for longer than two chapters at a time. Besides, those who know me, know that I have a particular taste in literature.
review 2: The concept for this story was inspired and filled with promise, a vampire becomes human after meeting a hunter who can suck the souls out of werewolves. The execution was very disappointing and failed to connect me with the characters, or the characters with each other, in more than a glib surface manner. Also, I realize this was only the first book in a series, but there was no conclusion - of any kind. The book ended, and I was left wondering what was the point... less
