review 1: Art is fine. Story is great. I read it when I was in highschool and reread it a few days ago but it still emits an aura of self-realization. WORLD is not that great at all, it alone. But the people living in it somehow give the world a color. Pain, Misery, Agony, Fear, Hate, Happiness, Joy and Love are just few of the many things that makes the world interesting. This manga when I read it made me cry. I cried without knowing I actually did. I did not know because MAYBE I am thinking that I was not impressed but somehow the other part of me felt the intensity of the character’s situation. This was actually a drama story that simply captivates and hurts your heart without penetrating the body. Before you read it, cast aside all your expectation and lock yourself inside the ... morelittle room built by the author, that way you will be able to open your mind and heart. CHEERS!
review 2: I'm a little sad that the series ended here because I was enjoying it very much. The fourth volume is intense as emotions are all up in the air with their gloves out.The story ends here. I did like how certain relationships ended and I also liked watching a couple of the people mature with their mistakes, but I will honestly confess that the very last pages of this volume left me feeling slightly incomplete. I think the author should have taken it just one step further with Daisuke and Hinako, but that could also just be my own personal desire to see these two as a couple; a tantrum that it ended, so to speak. Bitter Virgin was a very dark, mature and heavy series right up until the end. What I was expecting to be a series about smutty romance turned out to be a much more deeper story about teenagers who are forced to grow up way too fast, as well as the reality of how something so dark can affect an individual. Pleasantly surprised, I really did like this series and I do recommend it to anyone who likes manga, especially manga that focuses on the more serious sides of human emotions. My only qualm, and the reason I gave the fourth volume 3 stars, is that I felt just a tiny bit fuzzy about the ending. I felt that it should have been different, maybe just had a couple of extra pages worth of plot. Other than that, it was a fantastic story. If the art was neater, the rating would have been higher. less
