review 1: The premise of the book is simple. it expounds a comment RC Sproul made at a Ligonier conference regarding the age of the earth. However, simple as the premise is, the answer Sproul gave was very good, and he articulated a balanced, Reformed view of the interplay of Science and Scripture. Mathison does a great job of using Sproul's comment as an access point to the Reformed tradition's approach to science and faith. I recommend this book. It is also mercifully short.
review 2: This is a very basic book. The concepts to me were obvious but I guess for some it would help them to better understand the relationship between biblical theology and science. It seems to be more of a commentary on Dr. Sproul's statement and didn't seem to get into specific theories- which
... more is what I was expecting. It did highlight on some key points and I do think it's a good, easy, and quick read. Hopefully it lessens the bashing from one side to the other but either way it's a good read.
