review 1: I read alot of the reviews about this book and they all said that it had alot of humour so i thought i would give it a go....DAMN this book was really funny and defenitley packed with action that had me reading ntil 3 in the morning. Normally i dont go all crazy on my reviews but this book i do recommend. To me this is worth the rating of 5 and even though if it didnt include all the humour the story line is still captivating and defenitely worth the 5!!
review 2: This seems like one of those either roll with it or don't type of books. If you're looking for serious, grim, angst-ridden UF, this book fails to deliver. If you're looking for something fun and way over the top, something that doesn't take itself seriously--ever--this fits that slot. A bit of a love
... more it or hate it thing going on. I recommend finding the first chapter online somewhere are reading it before buying so you know what you're in for. I didn't--I thought it was going to be more in the style of the author's other works...but I was surprised. Not unpleasantly surprised, just surprised. It's such a complete 180 from the Nightfall books. The first few chapters are probably the weakest--the characters are starting to mesh, the wackiness hasn't really hit fever pitch. It took me the longest to get through this section, but things pick up later on when the zombies show up.I laughed my ass off at the necromancer's chapters. His problems running his company using zombie employees were damn funny. Way over the top. I rolled my eyes a little through the romance. It seemed rather tacked on in parts. But it didn't overshadow all the other crazy goings on. The heroine is suitably kick@ss. She cares about her people, and they care about her. While I never really got the feeling any of the Zero Dogs were in serious mortal peril, the action scenes were a weird mix of crazy, intense, and funny. That seems a fine line to pull off--and it doesn't always work here--but I think it works often enough to make the book enjoyable. I'll definitely read more. less
