review 1: Loved it! But then, anything Kelli Ann Morgan writes is read-worthy. This book was hard to put down, with so many twists and turns that will keep you on the edge of your seat. The two hard-headed main characters, Cole and Abby, seemed destined for a lifetime of hits and misses. But you have to stick with them because you just know they are made for each other. And I thoroughly loved the guy banter between Cole and his brothers. Ms. Morgan hits it right on the nail. Now excuse me - I have to finish book 2 in this series, The Bounty Hunter. It's so good!
review 2: The Rancher takes place in the 1800s with Abby being an actual cowgirl who rides and shoots better than most men. "Accidents" start happening around the ranch so Abby's father wants her out of the are... morea. To get her away he gives her a week to get married or else she has to go to her aunt's place in Denver. Cole arrives in town right at this time as the new ranch foreman. They get married and Abby wins the "competition" with her father so she can stay at the ranch. It was an interesting story and quite enjoyable. I had a hard time following all the "accidents" and figuring out who were good guys and who were bad guys. All the names of the town folk and their off spring were hard to keep track of, leaving me forgetting what part they played in the story.Cole was gorgeous - as were is brothers - and very capable as well as kind. Too bad he kept so many secrets. Abby was determined to never be left out of anything going on - especially if it had something to do with the ranch. So she got herself in trouble a lot. While she knew lots about ranching, she was dumb about life. She didn't seem to take time to think about the consequences of her actions.I really liked the way Morgan ended The Rancher. less
