first book of a series i’ll be reading next| tbr list

  • Nevernight – Jay Kristoff
  • Have you seen the covers for this series? THEY ARE GORGEOUS, my eyes were blessed with those beauties. I fell in love with them. Many people have high praises for Jay Kristoff’s works so I’m definitely picking up Godsgrave soon too. I’ve not read the synopsis, but I’m already intrigued based on the covers.

    2. Illuminae – Jay Kristoff & Amie Kaufman

Other than The Lunar Chronicles, I haven’t read any Science Fiction books yet (i dnf red rising.. oops). The formatting of the book was what attracted me (the bright orange cover included), I thought it seemed interesting and it will be a whole new reading experience. The first two books in the trilogy is highly lauded by many readers so I’m definitely picking this up very soon!

(but, it’s going to be chore to carry it around…)

    3. a darker shade of magic – V.E. SCHWAB

Been putting off reading this series for ages. I have no idea why but I never seem topick it up. Shades of Magic is such a popular book series, I saw it so often on Bookstagram. Actually, I bought it because people have been taking beautifulphotos of it. Hopefully within the rest of the year I’ll be able to read the series.

    4. THE KISS OF DECEPTION – MARY E. PEARSON

This is one of the rare occasions that I actually read the synopsis of the book. I was immediately intrigued by a princess running away on her wedding day, and two guys are chasing her but she doesn’t know who is the assassin and who is her betrothed. I have a feeling she might fall in love with the assassin (seriously hoping this is not the case cause it’ll be cliche……). However pretty the covers are, I’ve also heard from reviewers that they DNF or found the book disappointing. Hope I’ll get to enjoy The Kiss of Deception though, since I’ve already bought the entire trilogy.

    5. The Winner’s Curse – Marie Rutkoski

I’ve heard people raving about the trilogy but like always, I have no idea about the plot or the characters. The trilogy came to my attention when the last book was published last year, so I’m really pumped about this!

Which first book should I read first amongst the five?

I’m equally excited for all. I might push back reading Nevernight and Illuminae first since the series aren’t over yet but who knows?

That’s the end of my tbr list, let me know what you think about my book choices, and recommend me some new books please!
