review 1: I was given this book from the author in return for a honest review.I don't read too much YA books, but this was a nice change. We first get introduced to Brooklyn and Ryder the main characters of the story. As we progress we then travel to another land and meet many other characters in the story. The author has a great imagination to come up with a great world that Brooklyn gets sent to by Ryder in order to save her from the villain in the story Grishma. While in the other world Brooklyn gets mistaken for Princess Sophie. Here is where it got a little confusing for me as the author started to refer to Brooklyn as Sophie and you could easily get lost. Other than that I loved the story and ready to read the second book to see what happens next.
review 2: Grishm
... morea is a story told in two different POVs between Brooklyn and Ryder. Ryder comes to the real world hunting the beast known as Grishma and during his hunt, accidentally takes Brookyln back into his world called Necoh. I don't have any strong feelings about this book one way or the other. The writing was alright, but nothing about the story or the characters truly captured my interest. In places it felt more MG while in others it felt boarding on NA. The romance between the characters felt flat and forced too. There was no natural build up of relationships.Overall, it was a very light and fluffy read but I'm not hooked enough to invest in the sequel. less
