review 1: Z Is for Moose is a fictional book about a moose who wants so badly to be in the alphabet book. When his friend Zebra forgets and puts mouse for M moose loses it and thinks Moose stands for every letter. In the end Zebra decides Z stands for Zebra's friend Moose and all is good. This book can be paired with the million other alphabet books out there, students can make their own alphabet books using these as a model.
review 2: I don't always (or even usually) include picture books in my tally for the year, but I loved this one so much that it seemed like a shame not to make note of it. It's been a highlight of my reading year so far, a rollicking good time for readalouds from my littlest up through grade three. From incredulous boredom in the first few pages
... moreto uncontrolled giggles and gasps of excitement by OPQ, this book had my students hooked. I plan to use it as a mentor text for alphabetizing and putting books back where they belong in 2014-2015! less
