review 1: Charlie Madigan is struggling as Atlanta is taken over by powers that will destroy the world. Her ex has sold his soul to a revenant; her daughter owns an illegal hellhound and her sister, Bryn, is taken over by an evil power. In the midst of this it is up to Charlie and her police partner Hank to stop events that otherwise will lead to Bryn's sure death. This is the third book in a series about Charlie Madigan - a few years after a scientist discovered there are other worlds, inhabited by creatures we thought were myths: fae, sirens, wraiths and, yes, revenants. Since this discovery police work has changed as the criminal world has changed. This book, as well as the earlier, are fast paced, funny and well-written. When urban fantasy reaches these heights it is a genre wel... morel worth visiting.
review 2: It is amazing to me (in a bad, bad, boo, hiss incredulous way) that this series wasn't picked up (or however that works) for more books by the publisher. This is one of the best urban fantasy series out there. My only issue was that I was a little lost and it seemed a little info-dumpy. But that may have been entirely on me. It had been a long time since I read the last book, mostly because I had heard about the not continuing thing and I hate not being able to find out how everything 'turned out.' But the author is self-publishing at least one more (yay!) The world is super original and the characters immensely relatable and believable. I won't wait so long to pick up book 4. less
