review 1: Jolie's mother and Cole's father had an affair which destroyed their young friendship. Years later they are forced to spend some time together in a life and death situation and come to the realization that it had nothing to do with either of them. Now the man who pushed her away is chasing after her and wants her in his life. Meanwhile, his mother is hell-bent on destroying the family company for vengeance. Takes a while but they finally figure out what it is they really want out of life.
review 2: Wow, what a fantastic little surprise this book was. For me, Harlequin is a guilty pleasure that it's in full range right now, meaning, I've been reading more than the usual lately. Thanks to that, I came to this book and I'm thankful because it was definitely not wh
... moreat I expected but much, much better than the typical, cartoonish Harlequin stuff: you know, alpha, ruthless hero meets virgin heroine and either because of vengeance or another selfish interest, kidnaps/beds/weds/ her. Finally, they go through some challenging -or not- bumps on the road to reach their hea. Not very original, but for some reason, I like to indulge myself in these stories sometimes. Anyway, like I said, this book is anything but typical Harlequin. The hero and heroine feel real. They're strong and determined, they are not perfect or without fault, though. They are victims of circumstances beyond their reach. I seriously liked both of them and loved their story. Cole annoyed me at the very beginning, he was so unfair towards Jolie but he redeems himself greatly throughout the book. So, even if you don't like Harlequin, I would recommend this. Totally different and worth your time. I'll be looking for more of Kelly Hunter's work. less
