review 1: There are plenty of novels right about now featuring epidemics, climate catastrophe, and zombie attacks, but this one struck a chord with me. Rather than a generic mystery virus that animates the dead or whatever, Black Moon offers insomnia as the force that turns humans against each other, a plot point I personally found both refreshing and horrifying. Sleep is something I just do not compromise on, and losing sleep-time makes me very angry indeed, which made the 'sleepless' human-monsters of the book all the more true to life.
review 2: Almost everyone is staggering around Los Angeles in a sleepless haze. Those who can sleep have to hide from the others, because the sight of them sleeping inspires rage. My friends with small children might be able to relate t... moreo the feeling. This was a well-written story. I felt like the plot lines weren't resolved quite as well as they should have been--I don't need a button on everyone's story, but a little less vagueness would be good. less
