review 1: I thought that the story, "The year of Billy miller" was a good and interesting book. The story is about a little boy named Billy who had an accident over the summer, and sometimes, he confuses himself or doesn't remember things. His parents also worry about his accident, and wonder what could happen to him. Through out the school year, he meets this one girl named Emma Sparks who gives him kind of a hard time at school. Billy thinks she is a pain, and really annoying, and thinks she is really cool. Overall, I think this was a really fun book, and I recommend it.
review 2: I love Kevin Henkes, but was very disappointed in the Newbery Honor Book. The main character is a 2nd grader, so the writing feels very "elementary." The problem with that is that the book ... moreappears as if it would appeal to older kids (4-6th graders perhaps). The font is large and it reads very quickly, but I doubt many young readers will pick it up because of the size. I just couldn't get interested in the storyline here. Sorry Mr. Henkes. less
