review 1: Old Bear is a children's book written by Kevin Henkes. It is about a bear cub that falls asleep and dreams of the different seasons passing by. He is enjoying them all and loves everything about each one. Suddenly he wakes up and realizes that his dream just might have come true! Beautiful colors and flowers surrounded him, how long did the little cub hibernate for?! The illustrations in this story are very simple yet have a lot of background detail. Watercolor and paint are used to create the pictures that cover the entire page. Light pastel colors are used to give the spring season some realistic color. Something interesting about this story is that the font color changes to whatever color is being described with that particular season. It is an easy to follow story, wi... moreth big font and an easy plot line for children. The bright and busy pictures draw your attention in and it helps capture the readers eye. It is a perfect story to read to young children and you are able to teach them the different seasons and the process of hibernation all while following the young cubs dreams!
