review 1: I have enjoyed all of the books that I have read in this series. The premise is simple. Take a story which is familiar and zombie it up a bit. The clever bit is how the various books in the series have been made to interlock so that events in one book have effects elsewhere, or are part of the broader narrative. The Zombie Cinderella II story picks up just before the first book finishes. The ugly sisters leave for the ball, bidding their mother goodnight. The Prince, it transpires is a murderous psychopath who has been married multiple times, but keeps on killing his wives just after the wedding. His father decides he must desist, and tells the Prince this will be the last ball. The Prince decides to go out on a high, and has all the exits blocked, charging the palace guards... more with locking the entrance once the guests have arrived. Unfortunately for the Prince, the country is in the grips of a zombie apocalypse and while he gets to indulge in slaughter of his own, a horde are closing in, biting anyone they can reach. The climax of the book is suitably bloody, as it is with the other books in this series. The only minor gripe I would have with the series is that if you buy the books individually the cost is quite high. Buying them as a series would have made more sense, but this is an observation in hindsight.
review 2: The zombie plague is running amok amongst the kingdom, but the Prince wants to hold another ball so he can find his 13th wife. He decides to invite all the maidens, except servants, to his ball. Prior to the ball, the step-sisters kill Cinderella. What will happen to the ball now?A quick paced, somewhat action packed, humor laced narrative drives darkly motivated characters. While there is much violence and questionable intentions, the humor allows forgiveness of some characters and malicious hopes for others.Overall, a delightful read. less
