review 1: I DON'T LIKE SCI-FI!!!With that said, I must say this is one of the funniest stories I have read. The good thing about this book is that the writer (Kevin Weinberg)doesn't take himself too serious. The characters are very well written, the storyline is quite interesting and i literally couldn't put down my android when i started reading this book. I must repeat I DON'T LIKE SCI-FI !!! But, i came to really like this book. I don't know .This book is about metahumans ( superpowered, superhumans, (i don't know what word to use ) called Psychs. There are four distinct categories of Psychs and they are Reinforcers , Telepaths, Manipulators and Kinetics. Kinetics use telekinesis, Telepaths (well the name itself explains it ), Manipulators manipulate (oh really... manipulators ma... morenipulate... ty captain obvious) matter, they can melt your face off, destroy matter blah blah blah and the Reinforcers, are really strong and can withstand a lot of damage. The main character is Jack Harris. A hopeless, but loveable idiot. And i mean it ... he really is an idiot. So what happens when an idiot founds out he has the ability to use all four kind of powers? Well idiotic things happen . I will recommend this book to anyone who wants to get a good laugh out of a book, because Kevin Weinberg made me howl with laughter with this book.
review 2: I got this book for free and will definitely buy more. I was hooked right on the first page of reading sample. That's exactly the way it should be. I devoured the book in only two days and regretted that I had to set it aside to sleep, feed the kids and work. The main character, Jack Harris, is hilarious (beware, he's got the kind of attitude toward school you hope your kids won't have) with a small amount of common sense. The other characters are likable (except for the villains of course, although their motives were well thought out and presentend too). The seemingly black and white morale I found annoying at first soon turned into a more sinister moos, showing that not everything that's "on the right side" is also right. Kudos to the author.I found this a wonderful novel and highly recommend it to young adults older than 16 (there are some rather violent scenes in the book that will disturb younger readers especially if they're got a vivid imagination). less
