review 1: I am not as pleased as I thought I would be. I am absolutely infatuated with wolves and werewolves alike, and enjoyed the fact that the main character, Sheba, is one herself. I also liked Sister Moon, a deadly female ninja, an acquaintance of Sheba and Monkeyboy, a kid that is true to his name. But I just didn't like the book overall. The whole idea just never caught my attention. A traveling freakshow trying to solve the crime of missing children. That get sucked into a riverbank of London. Excuse me? Come again? Yes, I know the book is supposed to be strange, given the name of it. But I didn't enjoy it. I don't know what I was expecting, but the book wasn't at all appealing. I've added a star to tell that some of the characters were enjoyable enough to tolerate throughou... moret the book. Happy reding to you all!
review 2: I liked this much, much more than the "steampunk" YA novel Friday Society, although I did see quite a similarity between the two Japanese girls in both series, making them seem like slight stereotypes (gasp). But otherwise it was a fun read and quick and I liked the main characters. Although I did want to tell Sheba to hold back on her Nancy Drew-ishness and wait for reinforcements! I wished the faceplates of the freaks in the back of the book had been interspersed within the chapters. less
