review 1: I liked this book. It was okay written, and it had a good storyline. The thing that struck me about it was that the characters just didn't seem that well formed. They could have been better. Alexandrae is a pearl diver. He can hold his breath far longer than anyone else. His hope is that he will one day be able to buy a passage home to France. But when he meets beautiful Constance that hope changes.Constance is the daughter of a wealthy merchant. When she was younger, her mother disappeared. Her dream is to find her, and bring her home.Their two worlds collide, and they must help each other to survive. Can Constance ever find her mother? Will Alexandrae find happiness?
review 2: This book was enjoyable. The plot of the story was interesting as well. Though I n... moreoticed that things seemed to move a bit fast. I have to say though, Constance was a well though out character. Her dad is a real pain sometimes but that is just what dad's are like sometimes. Orlanda is just a whiny into herslef girl. She just pissed me off sometimes... And Alexandre, man, he was a great character. A gentlemen, a friend and aloyal crewmember. Just great. It's just, hard for me to imagine him in real life. Oh, and there is the whole theme of love. Honestly, Orlanda is a desperate girl. She can date anyone! As for Constance, she alright. :P She and Alexandre make a great couple. I found it amazing that they always think of each other whenever they are apart. Obssessed or just caring? The only ting thta I noticed about their relationship is that, they fell too fast. I know this is like the old times and all, but, I still think they fell to fast. All in all, the book was a nice read. less
