review 1: I loved this book. I think that I can relate to the subject matter because I teach. Teachers are often in the spotlight as if they don't have a life away from the classroom. I also teach at a small school where everybody knows everybody's business. That's how this story goes.I'd like to say kudos to Kirsten DeMuzio for making Adam a competent principal. Heck, he sounds like a principal that I'd like to work for. Brooke has lived in this small town all of her life. Adam gets a job as a principal at the small elementary school in town. Adam is not from this small town, but he thought he needed away from the urban type school. Adam is living in Brooke's grandmother's apartment that she has to rent. Brooke is known for dating the "wrong" kind of guy. They have a heck ... moreof a first meeting. I loved how each thought that they weren't good enough for the other. Brooke thought she was too wild for Adam. Adam thought he was too nerdy for Brooke. But, they just worked. There is some drama from ex- girl/boyfriends. There is drama from some self righteous parents. I loved Adam's character and how he stood by his beliefs and Brooke. No cliffhanger. Dual point of view.
review 2: 4.5I feel bad for any person moving to a small town. It's like they all have some sort of death wish. Or that could be just all the people I read about in books. If the time ever comes, I'll let you know if I have a death wish too.Adam moving onto Brooke's property was the best or worst thing that could have happened, depending on who you ask. So maybe Brooke and Adam's first meeting could have been a little more proper. But what would you do if a hot guy lived on your property?I loved Adam and Brooke's story. It's definitely one of the more unique ones out in the new adult area. Also, on that note, I'd like to thank Kirsten for writing a story that has safe sex in it. Yes, we have a fair amount of books where they use a condom, but Brooke was on the pill! So major kudos as to covering all the basis. Now, onto the plot. The plot of the story outside of the new adult aspect of it, is very original. Starting with why Adam moves to the town. As the story progresses, we see bits of small town drama going on, which I have to admit, I kind of enjoyed. It shows whose really loyal to the cause. Then we have Brooke dealing with issues she has thrown at her throughout this book.I loved Brooke's girlfriends, they all have their own specialties as to what Brooke can talk to about in regards to life, love and guys. Which is awesome, because we all need those girlfriends who are good at talking about certain areas in life. I definitely wish I had a girlfriend like Brooke, who could make my hair all pretty. With this being my first book of Kirsten's, I think it is safe to say that it won't be my last. I will definitely be checking out the rest of this series. less
