review 1: SUMMARY: The Christmas Mail Order Bride is the first in the Holiday Mail Order Bride Series! Enjoy these sweet romances as you read about characters falling in love during some of your favorite holidays! Also from Kit Morgan: The Prairie Bride SeriesSheriff Clayton Riley asked for a pair of boots for Christmas, not a mail order bride! Unfortunately for Clayton, his brother and mother figured a bride would look better on him than a new pair of boots! After all, he'd been sulking around long enough after the death of his wife, and his family decided it was time to take matters into their own hands and see to it Clayton had a very merry Christmas!Summer James was young, she was beautiful and, an impoverished orphan. Who would want such a woman? Obviously no one. For here she ... morewas, eighteen and now of age to set out on her own. But New Orleans was full of men with evil intent for one such as herself, and she saw no other choice but to take the only offer for survival she could find and become a mail order bride. What she didn't count on was becoming Sheriff Clayton Riley's Christmas present! REVIEW: I always love mail-order bride books, and this one didn't disappoint. Clean and sweet with just a hint of Christmas, Clayton and Summer's story was a true test of evil vs. good. With twists, turns and misunderstandings, the author kept the reader engaged from beginning to end. I hope there are sequels with Clayton's brother and Summer's orphanage friend. I was suprised at the use of honey and baby from Clayton to Summer as I didn't feel that fit the time period. But overall a good read.
review 2: The Christmas Mail Order Bride by Kit Morgan is an unexpectedly sweet novella. Summer James is an orphan from New Orleans. Mrs. Deeter at the orphanage put her in touch with Mrs Ridgely who has a mail ordered bride service. Mr. Slade was in Mrs. Ridgely's office wanting her to procure girls for him. He gets thrown out not before telling Summer he'll have her. Mrs. Ridgely's sends her to a town called Nowhere in the Washington Territories. Her groom is the sheriff. The sheriff, Clayton, finds out minutes before she arrives that his mother and brother Preston, mailed off the bride wanted letter. As soon as Summer opens the door he drops his gun it goes off hitting Summer in the foot. She tries not to cry from the pain but she faints into his arms. Clayton carries her to the doctors office. She stays in the doctor's house until they need her bed for members of the possee that got shot by Red Ned. less
