Hummingbird was written by Leon Russell. It is one of the songs he wrote for Chris O’Dell. Chris O’Dell was an Apple Records employee who was dating Leon Russell at the time. George Harrison later wrote the song Miss O’Dell for Chris O’Dell. Hummingbird was recorded at Olympic Studios in London in 1969. It was released on album Leon Russell in 1970. Hummingbird was also released as the B-side to Roll Away The Stone in 1970.
