review 1: Dear K.L.Brady,Firstly, congratulations on writing a book. I know, it's hard to sit down and get those ideas out of your head and into the page. And the editing, and publishing...I'm sorry, but I wish that you hadn't.Worst Impressions could also go under the title of worst book I've read in the last year. Only two types of P&P remakes work for me: ones that remake the story so a new generation can understand it (think Lizzie Bennet Diaries) or a what-happened-next with minor characters (Georgiana Darcy Diaries are a great example). I get that your's was meant to be one of the first, but it didn't work. Since when was smart, sophisticated Elizabeth Bennet also Liz Bennet, basketball playing slangy teenager who is constantly talking about guys who want to "put their hand in ... morethe cookie jar". Even worse, so does Jeni, the Jane equivalent! The name changing was often just confusing; I kept muddling up the Caroline and the Charlotte. Too much slang, not enough literature.I'm sorry. I wish I could have liked it.Yours sincerely,Caitlin
review 2: Some minor spoilers to fully accomodate for my rage. I have no idea which teenagers talk in whatever trash that was, especially an AP kid, but if you do, PLEASE direct me to them. The language itself made me want to hurl story into a brick wall at the inaccurate description. And yes, drugs, alcohol, and sex occurs in the school but not to the point that it was made out to be. Books like these give adults a false glimpse into a teenager. But besides the language, I was still inclined to read the book just for the sake of pleasing my curiousity. For all the shit Liz talks like "cutting up some ass", she left a rather disappointing show. And it was just so unrealistic how stuff she makes herself out to be and doesn't deliver anything worth mentioning. None of the plot would have even taken place if Liz had used her head when it came to Trent. He just shows up out of no where and she immediately falls for his "sweet talk". Ugh, it made me sick especially when she kept thinking of how amazing her last name sounded for when they got married. Really? REALLY?And it was so depressing how after 3 months, Liz and Darcy know they're soul mates, even after hating each other for the first, what, 4 months? To the point where he picks a college just to be close to her? If only Hitch was around to double slap his face too. I suppose the book had potential as most P&P remakes do but this one was just too poorly executed to actually be considered noteworthy. less
