review 1: I really enjoyed this book but I did get frustrated at Nick. He seemed to blame all the relationship problems on Harper and never took any responsibility himself. Whenever he got upset or angry, he would just walk away and then get mad at Harper for not sitting around waiting for him to get over himself. The end of the book was nice but I didn't leave with the feeling that they had really resolved anything. I wonder if they won't get a divorce again soon if they don't get into some marriage counseling and soon!
review 2: I know 'My One and Only' is not a literary work of art or an important seminal piece, but godamnit - I LOVE IT! I love the unlikable, prickly and absolutely bitchy Harper. I love Nick in all his swoon worthy steadfastness, humour and easy c
... moreharming ways. And I love the realism Kristan Higgins brought to the story: the sweetness of nascent love, the unseen/ unspoken insecurities that comes with young marriages and the cruel aftermath of divorce. So many parts of the story have hit a raw nerve and so many times through the book have I wanted to reach through the pages to give Harper a hug and tell her that I understand what she is going through. This is my first Kristan Higgins novel and it will definitely not be my last. Love it. less

This is the kind of book that keeps me sitting and reading for hours straight. The plot is simple, the narration is all right, not boring or make me think too much. Though it is a Harlequin novel, the formula resembles Chick lit. The Harlequin I know usually only revolves around the two main characters (a couple, of course) but I think the contemporary/modern Harlequin has evolved to be not much different from Chick lit.The romance is cute and sweet, added with some complications from the family problems. The last scene before the epilogue is quite funny, my favorite scene in this book.

I tend to read all of Kristan Higgins' books. You know why? They never disappoint. The main characters are always so well thought out, the secondary are always funny and there is always a dog. It's a formula and it works.I really loved that this story was about second chances. A one sitting read is a sign of a good book in my opinion, and that was this book. Oh and keep tissue's near. You will cry.

My kind of comeback romance!
