review 1: Entertaining read about Emmaline, a police officier in small NY town and the town's hunky hero (Jack) falling in love. I loved the humor in this book and the quirkly characters. The backstory on both main characters was overdone through, completely slowing the pace of the book down. Also, Jack's ex-wife and more specifically, his reaction to her, got on my nerves after a while. If not for those two things, I would have given four stars. Still, it's a light read for darm winter nights...and at least it's not overloaded with sexual references or sex in general.
review 2: 4.5 starsThis is the first book of the Blue Heron series I have read and I loved it. I knew it would be good when I was laughing while reading the second page. I loved Jack and Emmaline they were
... more great together, Jack was really laid back, handsome but he also had some issues that made him more human and at time one particular issue made me want to slap him and tell him to say NO. Emmaline was really funny, she didn't have a high opinion of herself due to experiences from her past but she was funny and caring and I don't think she did anything that annoyed me (although in some of her situations I was definitely cringing for her. I loved all the supporting cast except for one who you will know when you read it because she needed to be slapped! The one thing that I could have had a little less of was when the author was righting about Jack and Em's past's I think I would have liked the descriptions to be a little less intense (because they were involved descriptions at times it was almost whole chapter for each of them and I would have preferred that it was spread out a little more especially considering it was one character telling another it was the character remembering. So this book was great, I didn't read the other books in the series first and still enjoyed it but I am now going to read them so maybe you may want to start at the beginning :) less

Loved this one. I can't get enough of Higgins' "I Love Lucy-esque" heroines. Chicken cutlet anyone?

Read in one sitting up to 3am. Liked both characters and their stories. Also liked them together

Good story except the match up didn't seem very realistic.
