review 1: A fun mystery book about a kid in the Witness Protection program who gets involved in conspiracies and solving murders. I really liked Nick, the main character--he's totally relatable, down to earth, and has a sense of humor. The mystery itself kept me involved, but I'm not sure about the conclusion. I'm always tough on mystery endings: if doesn't BLOW MY MIND, I'm always mildly disappointed. Still, it's a solid story I would definitely recommend to anyone who enjoys YA mystery. review 2: 3.5 stars. There's not a lot of realistic mystery-thrillers written specifically for teens so in that regard I would give this book 5 stars. The story itself was initially gripping but ultimately wasn't as complex as a mystery-thriller written for adults so I was a bit disa... moreppointed. It was refreshing to see a book with a black male protagonist (and written by a black male author) where race wasn't a main focus. less
