review 1: I love this storyline! Sebastian & Baylee are very well-suited & I love their chemistry & dialogue. In order to enjoy their chemistry & dialogue, however, there are a lot of (what seem to me to be) lazy editing errors. The tenses change from 1st to 3rd person mid-sentence in several areas. There are a few random words placed that affect sentence structure. And some of the story feels like it's suffering from Baylee's ADHD. Also, this is book 1 in a new series, but (and I was unaware of this when I started reading) it's a connected series & many of the characters mentioned are from the earlier series. This is usually one of my favorite things & super cool. Unfortunately, in this case, some of that connected-ness left me feeling lost, rather than whetting my appetite... more for the previous stories. From what I've read of other reviews from the previous series, the editing issues appear to be consistent, so I'm not sure if I'll give other stories in it a shot. I would like to, as the story line itself was very good, and the action & chemistry were well-written. The descriptions of other stories sound intriguing as well. If they go through a re-edit (as I know some authors do when books have been out a bit) & the flow issues are taken care of, I'll definitely give them a chance. So! If you can handle the issues stated above in order to get to an enjoyable story, then I CAN recommend this book. I DID enjoy it, just not quite as much as I could have. : )
review 2: There is no such expression as per say. There is no such expression as per say. There is no such expression as per say.Can you tell I am annoyed? This author is the second I am reading this week to spell this incorrectly. Ms Vale, please don't feel the need to write in Latin when even your English spelling and grammar leave something to be desired! This book was definitely let down by multiple typos and the author's inability to spell. Your instead of you're, per say instead of per se etc. And what on earth does "I rolled his eyes" mean? I have grudgingly learned to forgive the odd error but when a book is peppered with them it definitely takes away from the reading experience. Overall, the story was alright. I did feel it jumped around a lot - both across time and points of view. There was plenty happening and I sometimes felt we were leaving behind one part of the story to fit something else in without fully exploring the earlier story. Still, it was all wrapped up in the end, so at least there were no unanswered questions in my mind.I am planning to read the next book in this series because Kettle sounds like an interesting character. I only hope the author has found someone who can spell to proof read the book prior to publication! less

Not too bad, but constant switching between first and third person made this uncomfortable to read.

I enjoyed this one - what's not to love when you cross a fireman and a mc member alpha.
